Cambridge reduces manufacture costs for LEDs

The Metro reports that LED light bulbs could sell at £2/ea. within 2-5 years.
Professors at Cambridge University have discovered a way of producing Gallium Nitride - an important part of LED manufacture - on Silicon rather than the traditional, costly Sapphire.

Lighting for Burns

When the National Library in Edinburgh put on the exhibition ZigZag: the Paths of Robert Burns they needed someone to sympathetically light the displays while keeping the overall light levels below certain requirements to reduce deterioration of the original manuscripts.

CPD for Glasgow Met. College

To provide a tutorial on the uses of LED lighting in interior design, Stephen made his way through to Glasgow on Thursday morning.
Stephen was giving a presentation on the ways lighting and LED lighting in particular could be used to benefit when designing hotel interiors. The event was tailored to the 18 3rd year design students who are currently working on a group project to design a ‘Metropolitan’ hotel.
